Imagine if one could hear Picasso or Rothko talk back.Supermarkets became an orchestra hall. Here we are talking about the first of its kind , a human cyborg Neil Harbisson.
Neil was born with a rare vision disorder called achromatopsia.
Before 2003 associating with Adam Montandon, Associate Professor of Innovation at Denmark's Erhvervsakademiet Lillebælt institute . The Barcelona resident, Neil saw world only in black and white.Together they brought this revolutionary device 'EYEBORG' in world. The eyeborg converts light waves(colors) into sound waves. Now Neil perceived world in an entirely different manner like no one else could in this world. He could hear faces and started his own art of Sound Portraits. In an interview Neil said " Now i don't dress in a way it looks good but in a way that it sounds good".
A year later, in 2004, Harbisson became the only person in the world allowed to wear a head-mounted apparatus for his passport photo. This made him the world's first legally-recognised cyborg.
Neil believes that cybernetics enhances the senses way beyond the limitations. He hears colour all the time and now his brain had adapted the new mutation. He can even recognise both infrared and ultra-violet that are beyond scope of human perception.
